Doll Cake

I'm so excited that I have finally had a chance to make a "doll cake." I have always wanted to make one but never had a reason to so when my cusin's daughter requested a Dora Snow Princess cake I told her I would if I could make it a doll cake. Before I started I went to www.wilton.com to do a little research and learned that I should use a pound or pudding cake because it makes a heavier more stable cake. So I used 2 funfetti cake mixes with 2 banana pudding mixes to make the cake.
The Dora doll is a full sized doll that I found at Wal-mart and stripped down and covered with saran wrap and stuffed into a hole I cut in the top of the cake. I'm very pleased with my first attempt at a doll cake and look forward to doing another soon.

All is Well

Just a quick update. Sam is perfect and the rest of us are back to normal. It took me a few days to shake the anxiety from Monday's accident but we're all feeling great again. Thank you all for your concern and prayers.

So Blessed

Yesterday we had one of the worst days of our lives. It was about 4:30 PM and I was home with my 3 children as usual. I laid my sweet baby boy down on the couch and took the girls down the hall to change their diapers, like I've done a million times before. When I came back Sam had turned his head toward the back of the couch and was crying. I hurried and picked him up and his arms and legs and face were blue. All I could think was "Please Father, don't take my baby." I was so scared and tried to call James because he gets home around 4:45 but he didn't answer so I called my cousin Niki and I was crying so much all she understood was "come over." I didn't know what to do because he was still breathing but he was limp and his eyes looked glazed so I called his doctor and she told me to call 911. I called them and they asked if he was breathing and stuff and they sent first responders. Within a couple minutes a fireman knocked on the door. He gave Sam oxygen and we tried to get him to respond. Within a few more minutes Niki showed up and took care of the girls and James arrived shortly after the cops and the ambulance. Sams color returned to normal and they checked his heart rate and oxygen levels and he was okay but they took Sam and I to the hospital in the ambulance, James followed in the van. Sam slept the whole way to the hospital which was very unnerving to me but the EMT said it was because he was tired from crying and fighting to free himself. The whole way to the hospital all I could do was pray he would be okay. When we got to the hospital the doctor checked him out and said he was okay because he never completely stopped breathing. We got home around 7:30 after picking up the girls from Niki's. Our neighbors were so sweet to bring us dinner last night and tonight. I'm still feeling a lot of anxiety. Seeing my baby on the verge of death was incredibly traumatizing and I'm having a hard time not blaming myself. I am so greatful that the Lord saw fit not to take him yet. I don't think I would have ever gotten over it if my baby died because I left him on the couch. I truly can't express how grateful I am that he seems perfectly normal today. I don't know why he turned his face to the couch but all I can figure is that he thought he was going to eat. Anytime something touches his cheek he tries to eat it. He loves to eat as you can see from his pictures; he's a big boy. Needless to say Sam is no longer allowed to lay anywhere but his swing, chair and bed unattended. Oh I'm so glad he's okay, Thank You Lord.

How Much?

After I finished this cake James told me I had to post it and ask what people thought it was worth. I of course have no ambition for selling my silly crafts but he wanted me to ask anyway.
There are 58 size 1-2 diapers, 33 hair bows, and 5 baby headbands which are designed to allow you to add any of the small bows.

I made this cake for a friend who has an 8, 6, and 1 year old girls and a 4 year old boy and is pregnant with another girl.
The topper is two big girl korker bows.

The Zoo

We went to the zoo on Thursday with some friends. We had a great time but it was hot.
The girls really enjoyed seeing the animals.
Sam was only in this sling for a little while because it was too hot so we stuck him in the stroller with the girls. He slept most of the time, of course.

Jiggly Cheeks

James has enjoyed jiggling all of our kids cheeks but this is the first time I've recorded it. Enjoy!

Lizzy in the Rain

It's been raining off and on since last Tuesday so I decided to let Lizzy put on some gear and go out and play. Despite my efforts she got soaked but she had a good time anyway.
